2008 is here so i thought it was as good a time as any to announce the new section we are developing for The Biker Place.
Some of you may have noticed on the left sidebar we have been adding links under the heading “The Future”, what we are doing here is adding profile pages for young, British motorcycle racers in the hope of generating a little extra exposure and maybe even sponsorship for them. There is very little help for youngsters trying to make their way in the motorcycle racing world and many have to finance everything themselves or look for sponsors, so we at The Biker Place are going to try and help out by giving them some exposure on this site.

We decided to start this project after finding the GP Future website, which is a website dedicated to helping promote and fund young, motorcycle racers with the ultimate goal of a British World Champion! We are hoping to have an interview with the GPFuture guys over the next few weeks also so stay tuned.
This new section of the site is very much in it’s infancy and we are hoping to add new features as we go along (we are definately open to suggestions). As well as the profile pages we will be publishing news and race reports from the riders and looking at ways in which we can attract new sponsors to the racers/teams.
What do we need?
We need to spread the word, to get more people involved so if you are or know a motorcycle racer or team that would like to get involved then please pass our website information on to them. There is absolutely no cost involved in getting a racer profile, we know there are enough costs involved in racing already!
If you know of any of the riders already listed, check out their page and leave them a message.
The Biker Place is a motorcycle racing website with up to date news and race reports. Check out our section on the up and coming racers and keep up to date with their progress.

Great idea i know we need as much exposure as possible, Hope to join the site soon with Jay in the Future Stars section.
Many thanks to Shaun for getting in touch please call to discuss and will send all you need asap. How about this We create a Future stars fund put an Article in every publication about biking in great Britain ask for a donation from every Biker in the Country if we only got £1.00 of everyone we could fund the top ten riders chosen by a panel say very year maybe more if you look at the Maths £1.00 from 1 milion bikers is £1,000,000.00
divide that by an average top rde of say £40,000.00 = Twenty Five top riders being helped to become future World stars, isnt that what were all
moaning about, that we havent got any enough champions, all this for the cost of £1.00 each, im getting exited here i think we should do this.

Hi Steve,
Thats not a bad idea, i had a thought about something like this when i saw the football club that was bought out by a group of people on the internet. Worth some thought i think. I’ll call you as soon as i shift this flu bug, in the meantime i should have the internet on most of the weekend if you want to drop me an email.
Have you checked out http://www.gpfuture.com ? they are worth getting listed with also.

Thanks for the encouraging words, guys. The GP Future partners have been working on this campaign for a while now and acknowledge that it will be a slow burner. However, we’ve had a good deal of support from people within the bike racing community and have been encouraged enough to think it’s worth keeping up.
I had a long chat with Steve Dunn recently and have added an article on the GP Future site about the £1 fund, plus a page dedicated to it. We still have people we need to speak to but will keep you updated.
So long as there are enough people continuing to try and make a difference, then eventually I am confident that the work will reap rewards.
