My name is Alec Wright, I live in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and have been riding and racing motorbikes for about 3-4 years.

I first started on minimotos in the winter of 2004 practicing in freezing ice and snow – which made it all the trickier!! We used to go to a little go-kart circuit called Fradley Park at Lichfield, after a couple of months I decided that I wanted to learn more and see how I compared to other riders, so for the following season 2005 I decided to enter the Stretton Championship at Stretton 2000 , in Leicestershire and the Phoenix Southern & Northern British Championships, which were held at various tracks up and down the country , we met plenty of other racers friends and the Championships were good fun and great racing.

2006 we decided to give “Big Bike’s” a go. This was to be the Jawa , these were proven to be a total waste of time breaking down nearly ever meeting , bike not generating revs in 5th and 6th gears, just not fun experience at all for 2006, other than to go to some of the full size circuits.

By May and with 4 months of stress and frustration with this diabolical machine we decided to go for something that we could race and would be a lot more reliable. This was to be the Honda GP 125, I waited until the middle of July and did not race for 6 weeks while waiting for my 125 to arrive, finally having some reliability and power! I had 12 weeks to get rid of that DREADED ORANGE NOVICE VEST until the end of the season. Having managed to gain my full licence within 11 weeks, and managing to come within the top 3 , 12 times within the last 15 races at Clubman level. Intending to run again in the clubman series for 2007, attending the NEC Motorbike Show in October 2007 I was advised by Neil McKenzie, to enter the BSB as he considered me capable to be a top 10 rider and that I would learn such a lot from the experience. Neil had seen me race at Race Of The Year at Mallory Park.

Unfortunately out of all the Clubman series attended over the 15 weeks, the only circuits I had experienced which were used by the British Superbikes were Mallory and Cadwell Park. With this in mind we knew the British Championship was not going to be easy. So we set off in 2007 BSB with “ just to qualify” in mind.. Considering we had no chance to practice on the tuned bike and not knowing anything about how to set one up, as we only had the kit put on the bike the week before the British Superbike Series began I entered the Series with a very open mind!!

The year set off well and got even better as I was given the opportunity to ride for Gary Dawson and Team ReplicastUK at Round 6 of the championship.

The year was proven to be a lot better than we thought taking 2 DORNA Academy Cup wins, 5 Podiums and 7 Top Ten BSB finishes , 7th being my highest finish of the year.

Overall finishing the year 2nd in BSB 125 DORNA Academy Cup and 14th in BSB 125gp Championship, and Rookie of The Year for 125GP.

For 2008 we realised that the idea of racing BSB 125’s for another year would be wasted. Due to there not being enough recognition in the 125 class in Britain. So myself and team ReplicastUK have decided to move out into European racing at the CEV Spanish 125 championship. We understand this will be a big step as we are the only British team and rider in the championship this year, even so we will show how committed we are to succeeding in the sport.
