Bitter sweet victory for Stoner at Donington
Casey Stoner got his title defence back on track at the British GP following a dominant performance at the Donington circuit and then immediately hit out at sections of the crowd.
The Australian claimed he was booed on the podium and ‘abused’ during the slow down lap.
Stoner cruised to his second British victory in a row during Sunday’s 30 lap race, after which many of the 90,000 fans present invaded the track and gathered under the podium.
I had it last year when I won as well. On my slowing down lap I was getting loads of abuse
What do people want? Are they here to even watch bike racing or are they here to abuse people?
It’s not the way to behave at a racetrack at all but it won’t stop me from winning.
Stoner, who started from pole position, never looked in danger of surrendering his advantage and finished 5.789 seconds ahead of Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa to take his first chequered flag since the season opener in Qatar.
Home favourite James Toseland had a torrid weekend, falling three times on Saturday and starting the race in 16th, he went down on turn one of the race. Toseland remounted and finished the race but never managed to catch the pack of riders and looked crest fallen at the finish of his home Grand Prix.

“…won’t stop me from winning” or should that be whining? I think Casey has made a mistake here – refusing to go to the Day of Champions and now moaning about a few fools on the slowdown lap just draws attention to these people, so more join in…and the problem gets worse.
Ignore it Casey, and do your talking on the track.
