British 125GP – Brands Hatch – Connor Behan Race Report
With qualifying already sorted from the re-scheduled April meeting at Brands Hatch. Connor was full of confidence and high hopes after his astounding performance at Oulton Park the previous weekend.
The weekend was a total contrast to the snowy conditions of April- with blue skies and high temperatures, it was a scorcher! On warm-up, the unfortunate Deane Brown high-sided right in front of Connor, his bike scraping past Connors, but luckily he managed to stay in control. Not so lucky for Deane – best wishes to him and we wish him a very speedy recovery.

Due to Deane’s misfortune, Connor moved up a place to start 9th on the grid. He got an excellent start which took him straight to 3rd place behind Hoyle and Lewis. By the end of the first lap, Hoyle and Hinton had broke free a little and Connor and Jay Lewis were busy battling for 3rd spot. The next few laps, showed a constant change of positions between Connor and Jay, both lads being as hungry and focused as the other.
By lap seven, they had been caught up by Stewart Finlay, and the KRP gang of Martin Glossop, Paul Jordan, Tim Hastings and Tom Hayward.
The battle continued, and the ‘pack’ fought it out over the last half of the race. It made for very exciting viewing, and showed the sheer determination and talent of each individual. Connor crossed the line, dissapointed in 8th place. He felt if he had just that little extra power, he could have pulled away on the early laps and not got caught in the group battle.
He now stands in 4th position in the Championship and 3rd in the Academy Cup.
Thanks go out to Maxton engineering, Motrac-racing, Vital:Signs of Northwich, C&K Contracts, and www.custom-paint.co.uk for all their help and support.
