165 MPH But Still Not Fast Enough!
Young motorcycle racer Alex Gault was touching speeds of 165 mph last weekend when Snetterton the circuit in Norfolk which is billed as one off the fastest in the country, hosted round 5 of the British Super Bike championship.
In a weekend fraught with problems Gault struggled to stay with the riders at the front, suspension settings played a big part in holding the youngster back when he only managed to scrape onto the back of the grid for Sundays race, however it had been a very hard fought session 56 riders vying for 40 places, testament to the quality of the field was (A lap of Snett takes around 1min’ 11seconds) only 1.7 seconds separated 1st from 40th place.

The Astro Kawasaki team surrounding Alex, worked hard to remedy the problem and had it sorted for Sunday mornings warm up where Gault set the 5th fastest time of the session and a second faster than his previous best time.
In the race from his back row start Gault pushed as hard as he could making it up to 23rd place before a red flag stoppage made it come to a premature end after only 10 of the planned 14 laps.
His performance won him the Metzler ‘Merit Award’ for which he will receive one set of Metzler tyres.
Gault drops to 12th in the National Super Stock 600 Championships and 3rd in the David Jeffries award for rider under the age on 19.

This was not the result I had hoped for, although considering the events leading up to it, I did the best I could in the race. We are still struggling due to lack of funding and no testing but we are hoping to get some testing done before the next round at Oulton Park in July
