British Weather 1 – Ryan Brain 0

Hi Biking Buddies

Ryan Brain‘s Dad here again with a quick update on our start to 2010. We started the season at Mallory Park with EMRA. Typical English weather, a freezing cold Sunday morning resulting in a broken water pump drive on Ryan’s Number One bike. After half an hour of manic activity changing wheels on Number Two bike and a journey to scruiteneering that meant missing warm up we were ready to race!

Race one – wrong jeting, wrong gearing  – not such a good start.

Race two – better jetting, better gearing,  but no steering damper and a crash on the way to the hair pin,  – so not a good finish.

On to Brands Hatch for round one of the North Gloucester Championship.  Again British weather spoils the party. Saturday practice was a disaster with water getting into the carb and Ryan seeming to be more affected by the Mallory Crash than we thought. Things no better for the qualifier or the race,  Ryan being 20 seconds off the pace.

Sunday morning comes with better weather and after a team talk Saterday night, Ryan feeling better about himself. A damp practice and a dry qualifier saw Ryan improve 100%. Feeling better for the race Ryan put in some good lap times, ending 4thin his group. He was still 3 seconds off the pace but considering no Friday practice, mechanical issues and battered confidence  I think overall it turned out OK.

See you all at Cadwell Park in April for the second NG round.
