Fortunately she escaped the accident with only cuts and bruises but was very disappointed at as this was her highest place to date this season. Before the accident the 17-year-old had put in her fastest ever time around the circuit with a lap or off 1:29.043, which was less than a second slower than the fastest lap set by the Academy Cup winner Tim Hastings, proving that McAleer has found the pace to finish regularly in the top 15 of the main championship.

McAleer was not the only rider to come to grief during the race on Sunday with no less than 10 other non-finishers, also fallers, however she will now be determinant to put the disappointment behind her and get back on track in two weeks time at Silverstone, when the Superbike Championship moves back down South to the track better known for holding Formula One and she is hoping to again break into the top 15 and break her duck for championship points.
