2009 achievements

In 2009 Daley achieved an awful lot more than was ever expected, with his race season starting half way through the year.

DDM Racing managed to pull together enough funds to allow Daley to compete at the Spring National Road Races at Olivers Mount, Scarborough, a lack of track time did not seem to affect Daley who managed to finish in the top three on his Honda RS125.

Finances were still an issue so unfortunately the teams next outing would be the Cock ‘o the North at Olivers Mount in July. Daley managed to grab two third places showing a lot of bravery and skill.

With such good results many people starting taking a big interest in Daley.

Daley was kindly given a Honda CBR 600 to ride for the rest of the season, and was approached by the organisers of the Aberdare Park Road Races, South Wales taking place the weekend after.  They were very keen for Daley to attend and helped with expenses for the event.

Daley had a great weekend here proving his talent, the meeting also made him eligible for his International Racing Licence, allowing him to enter the Ulster Grand Prix in Northern Ireland in two weeks time.

Due to Daley’s achievements prior to this event the Dundrod Motorcycle Club invited him to compete for his first trip out of the mainland, expenses paid. Daley managed to exceed all expectations by winning the second phase of the first Dundrod Challenge Race lapping at over 115 mph average, the impressive results didn’t stop there as Daley was then invited to the season finale Stars at Darley Moor meeting held in Derbyshire where  he secured some great results against some of the worlds best road racing stars.

Daley ended the season at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, with the Auto 66 Club, where he managed to win the last race of the day on the Honda RS125 giving him and DDM Racing the perfect end to a successful season.

What does 2010 hold for Daley Mathison?

After a successful 2009 the team is now looking towards the 2010 season.

Having attended Scarborough, Aberdare and the Ulster GP, Daley and the team believe his future is in real road racing and hope to make regular trips over the Irish sea as well as competing on the mainland.

For the 2010 season we will be competing on our Honda RS125 GP machine and having my first experiences on a four stroke 600cc racing bike we hope to secure the use of competitive 600 supersport machine along with the possibility of making our debut on a 1000cc machine.

If we can acquire the right funding we hope to attend all the events listed on our race calendar.
