Finale at Brands closes successful season for Behan

Again another hectic weekend for Connor at the BSB closing meeting at one of his favourite circuits, Brands Hatch. A busy schedule was ahead of him as he had entered into the 600 super stock courtesy of Wylie & Holland Racing in addition to the GP125’s.

After an excellent first practise in the 125 session he made a quick swap of bikes over to the practise session of the Metzeler National Superstock 600. Finishing the practise 14th quickest, was very reasonable considering the amount of track time he has had on the new machine.

Practise 2 on the 125’s was going well until Connor made a simple mistake going into the corner and lost control of the bike. He then made the decision not to continue in the following practise and qualifying sessions on the 600. It was too much of a difference riding both bikes at the same meeting, and to jeopardize his chances in the GP125 Championship race would have been foolish. Wylie & Holland respected Connors mature decision not to continue on the 600 at Brands.

Concentrating back to the 2 strokes, a respectable 6th place gave him a spot on the 2nd row of the grid for the race. He got off to a flying start and battled with the front 4 for the duration of the race. Constantly swapping positions with Lodge and Hoyle, it was a race to be enjoyed. Meeting up with several backmarkers towards the end of the race, gave Lodge the opportunity to break free and earn a well deserved race win. With Hoyle coming in 2nd and confirming his championship, Connor crossed the line in 3rd after a last corner tussle with James East.

He finishes the Championship in 5th place and 4th place in the ACU Academy Cup. Consistency has played a major part in his success after only failing to finish in one round due to mechanical failure, he has scored championship points at all the other meetings and mounted the podium several times during the 12 round campaign.

Big thanks go out to local firms Maxton Engineering, Motrac, Vital:signs, and Percys Auto’s. Steve Patrickson,Wylie & Holland Racing, Custom-paint.co.uk, The Biker Place and everyone else who has helped throughout the campaign – you know who you are. I could not have had such a successful season without your ongoing help and support
