Superstock Racer Daniel Hegarty has been named Nottinghamshire’s Young Person Of The Year.
The owner of a motorcycle repair business, the 21 year old from Radcliffe on Trent is also a key player in the Rev and Go scheme, a project in nearby Cotgrave to cut crime and anti-social behaviour.
Hegarty, who initiated the idea, chaired the members’ group for most of his teenage years, and learned how to race there.
The scheme provides off-road motorcycle rides and maintenance in exchange for a contract from youngsters, aged between 13 and 17 years, to never ride illegally or anti-socially.
Around 20 young persons a year gain riding skills and thrills from the project. Hegarty keeps a watching eye on its current members, one of whom is his apprentice and another is on “work experience” at RTR.

“No praise could be high enough for what you have achieved,” was the commendation from the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire Jenny Farr as she presented Hegarty with the winner’s cheque of £1000.
Hegarty rides for the AAA racing team, and more information can be found here.
