Josh Day – Well what a year that was
Well what a year that was. It was a lot busier than I expected and very demanding on everybody involved but I met some really good people and made some great friends along the way.
As for the racing we had some great results and some real bad luck but we definitely learned a lot this year.
There were many highs and lows as you have to expect in racing. The first Oulton Park round was interrupted by an electrical failure which forced me to retire from the race while in a strong 10th position and later in the year the bad luck struck again after crashing out at Knockhill and Cadwell Park after Qualifying 6th for both races.
The highs however overshadowed the lows. I achieved my first ever career podium at Oulton Park fighting back from 11th at one point in the race to Finish in 3rd position in what has to be the highlight of my short career so far. I was slightly disappointed with the end to the season, I think it was down to a slight lack of fitness and just the fact that my confidence had taken a beating with some heavy crashes during the year. After Oulton I was hoping for a top 10 finish in the Championship but it wasn’t to be but after looking back on it though I have to be over the moon with what we achieved.
The whole team gained a lot of valuable experience this season and we look forward to 2009 knowing what has to be done. I myself visited a lot of tracks this year that I have never raced at before so now I have the experience of them I’m hoping that next season I can push on and achieve consistent good results at all venues on the calendar.
We finished this season which was only my second ever 13th in Britain finishing 7 of the 13 races in the points. We also competed in the NG Road Racing Club 600 Championship and finished 3rd, it could have been a different story but due to the British rounds we had to miss several of these races although we did win 4 races with 3 second places along the way.
My ambition for next year is to challenge for wins and even the Championship in the British Championship.
Myself and the team are currently looking for the all important backing for the 2009 season. And if there is anyway in which you could help either with product support or financial backing you would be investing in a very focused and determined team.
If there is a possibility that you may be able to help out for the 2009 season I can be contacted at josh@joshday.co.uk
I’d like to say a big thankyou to everybody that helped us this year
