Josh Day is 19 and a professional paint sprayer for Mitsubishi in Cirencester. He began racing in 2007 as a total novice on a 1999 Yamaha R6 but it couldn’t compete so he bought a 2007 R6. The bike was literally a road bike with race fairings and good tyres on. Still had the Horn and was Insured and Taxed!
By the end of that season Josh was running at the front of club races against higher powered machines with no experience on any of the tracks. Everywhere he went he had to learn instantly and, that’s tough in a club race of around 6 or 8 laps.
Josh’s best performance to date was at the Bike Sport News Autumn Challenge back in November 07 at Pembrey, being the first time he had experienced timed qualifying sessions, he found it hard to race himself around the circuit but he improved slowly and qualified 8th in the 600cc & 18th in The Open.
In the open Races he had a tough first race battling the whole way with Leon Morris, riding a Ducati 1098. In the second race he had a really good start pulling away with the leaders and eventually finished 9th. Good enough to be the second 600cc in the class behind only Ross Walter.

In the 600cc races Josh had a great first race and was mixing it right at the front only to be pipped at the end finishing 4th. In the 2nd race he was leading early on but was pushed back to 4th, he got back into 2nd only to highside and break his foot so that was him out and in plaster for 7 weeks.
For the 2008 season Josh Day is taking a big jump into the deep end by competing in the National Superstock 600 Championship. Although being relatively inexperienced he believes in his ability to up the pace when it is required. This will be a learning year for Josh starting at Brands GP another circuit he has never done a lap of. Its going to be a fun year for sure and he hopes to be consistently in the points.
