Leon Jeacock
Leon Jeacock started riding bikes when he was three years old, with his Dad timing him around the local farmer’s field and having many accidents, including knocking himself out for a few minutes when he was four years old, but it never stopped him getting back on.

He started racing at the age of 14 on a Cagiva Mito 125 which was converted to a track bike. Although he only completed 15 laps in which his best time was 1min 20 on an unreliable bike, he found himself to be completely hooked on Road Racing. Unfortunatly he had to stop due to lack of funding (even though he was working from 4 am in the morning till 4 pm at night on Saturdays and Evenings at the local Speedway Stadium, whilst still at school), reliability of the bike, and people letting his family down e.g. selling him engines that were no good, saying they would supply him with things that never happened and it never worked out.
After leaving school in 2005 at 16 he decided to become an apprentice bricklayer working 5 days a week, and I also work 5 nights a week at the local speedway stadium to fund his new racing “career” on a standard road going 1994 zxr400 Kawasaki.
In 2006 he competed in 6 Sunday race sessions with EMRA, which consisted of 3 races per day and 2 Wednesday practice days, and finished the Season with 1 point !!!
In 2007 he purchased a second Kawasaki ZXR 400 with Maxton Suspension front and rear and a mildly tuned Engine, he finished the 2007 Season 2nd in the EMRA Formula 400 Championship (still wearing his Orange Novice jacket!), his dad had promised him if he finished in the Top 3 he would sell his own treasured bike and purchase a new Yamaha R6, he was also presented with ‘Novice of the Year’, he also competed in some of the NGRRC rounds to get more experience on other tracks in redyness for the 2008 Season.
In 2008 he decided to enter the newly formed ‘ThundersportGB Championship’ on his AMS-Motorsport backed Kawasaki ZXR400, he was also offered a ride with ‘BMC Racing’ riding one of their Honda RVF 400’s in the EMRA Formula 400 Championship, the Season got off to a flying start, after on 3 test sessions on the Honda RVF 400, resulting in him leading the EMRA Formula 400 Championship and also the Thundersport GB Championship on board his own AMS-Motorsport Kawasaki ZXR400, midway through the Season with everything going well we decided to give him his first race out on the Yamaha R6 in the EMRA Superstock 600, which resulted in him ‘Winning’ both races by 12 secs 1st race, and 7.5 secs the 2nd race and putting him in 2nd Position in the Superstock 600 Championship, after missing the first 2 rounds!! He also set a new Lap record round Mallory park on his AMS-Motorsport Kawasaki ZXR400 with a Lap time of 57.374!
End of 2008 standings:-
- EMRA (East Midland Racing)
- EMRA Formula 400 ‘Champion’ on the ‘BMC Racing’ ‘Honda RVF 400′
- EMRA Superstock 600 ‘Champion’ on his own BMC Racing backed ‘Yamaha R6′
- EMRA Paul Vincent Trophy Winner
- EMRA Clubman 2008
He became one of the first Rider’s to Win 2 different Championships on 2 Different makes and cc’s of Bike in the same Year with EMRA.
ThundersportGB
Junior Powerbike ‘3rd in the Championship’ on his AMS-Motorsport ‘Kawasaki ZXR400′,
(after missing 6 Rounds due to Engine and Gearbox failure).
2009 Season, Leon is hoping to do the EMRA / ThundersportGB Superstock 600 Championships, and as many National Superstock 600 Rounds that he can afford.
