Max’s final race in Britain was in 2006 on a Metrakit GP70, funnily enough back at Whilton Mill, where he took his first ever trophy and last championship win. In 2006 he was entered into the British Championship 70cc Metrakit Challenge. He achieved eleven out of 18 wins clinching the title with 3 races remaining, during the season, he also managed to take three lap records at Llandow, Rowrah, and Whilton Mill circuits. Max has now moved to compete against much tougher opposition in Spain to prove to himself that he is good enough to realise his ambition of becoming a world class racer.
The 2007 season saw max finish 7th in the Catalunian championship with results like these, 9th at Catalunya, 7th at Catalunya, 5th at Cartegena, 8th at Valencia, 6th at Almeria and 2nd at Albacete. Bearing in mind these races have an average of 75-80 competitors!
Low point for the 2007 season was breaking his arm in testing at Albacete forcing him to miss the final round of the championship, with Max’s high point being a 5th place finish in Cartegena having qualified in 38th.
