Teenager Nicole McAleer put the disastrous Oulton Park race weekend firmly behind her when she got a good start of the line at Knockhill during the Relentless 125 GP race; however this wasn’t to be as the race only lasted one lap when two riders collided, both were unhurt.
On the rerun McAleer wasn’t able to replicate the flying start from the first time out, but she was soon pushing through the field and was soon up into the top twenty and at the chequered linen she was delighted to take nineteenth place, finally getting the better of Shaun Winfield as they passed the line after a race long battle between the two.
She was even more delighted to take 10th place in the Academy Cup Championship as she is now back on track scoring points, Oulton Park was the first time this season that she failed to score point in the Cup. The six points she bagged on Sunday was enough to put her back up to ninth place, moving up from 12th. She is now only two points off the eighth place, which the Omagh girl is determined to make hers at the next round at Cadwell Park.
