The little lady from Omagh, Nicole McAleer was narrowly pushed out of a points scoring position today in the Brands Hatch re-run which had to be cancelled five weeks previously due to snow. This time around however the weather conditions were the exact opposite as the riders baked in the scorching Kent sunshine during Sunday’s race.
McAleer who had qualified in 18th place during practice five weeks ago, started from the fifth row of the grid for the race as the places determined during qualifying at the first attempt to run the meeting were retained. So buoyant after a good run at Oulton and starting the race from a good grid position the teenager was confident of being able to get a good result today.

Throughout the 14 lap race she battled with her team mate in the SP125 Racing stable, Jordan Malton, along with Team Bratpack 125 Racing’s Ross Constable and she seemed to have gotten the better of the two until her and Constable bashed fairings, leaving Constable able to recover faster and make a break, leaving McAleer to finish in 16th place, narrowly missing out on her first main Championship point. However she still managed to hold off Malton which was important to hand her seventh in the Academy Cup race where she is now moved up to joint sixth place with James Folkard.
