Team mate against team mate, teenager against teenager, female against male, but it was the female who out witted the male, that was how Nicole McAleer ended her second race in the 2008 British 125GP Championship at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
McAleer who had a bad qualifying session on Saturday and was disappointed not to be able to improve during Sunday’s final qualifying due to poor weather conditions was delighted to end up 23rd overall in the main race, beating her fellow team mate in the SP125 Racing camp, literally as they crossed the line.

Although McAleer headed Ben Barrett for most of the race, during the last laps he was able to squeeze past the Omagh teenager, but on exiting Lodge Corner McAleer had the better drive to pass Barrett to take the position.
Twenty-third overall and eighth in the Academy Cup means that she is now eighth overall in the Academy Cup championship which is being led by her SP125 Racing team mate Matt Hoyle, who also won the race today.
